FAQs
Domains, hosting, SSL, security. These aren't buzzwords; they're the infrastructure that keeps your business online.
Here's what they are in plain english, some common questions, what they'd cost you on your own, and what you get when I handle them.

Common questions
Frequently Asked
What is a domain name?
Your domain is your address on the internet (like yourbusiness.com). It's how people find you. You register it through a registrar and pay a small fee every year to keep it. If you forget to renew, someone else can buy it out from under you.
What is web hosting?
Hosting is the server where your website's files actually live. Think of the domain as your address and hosting as the building at that address. Without hosting, your domain points to nothing. Hosting costs vary wildly, and cheap hosting means slow load times and more downtime.
What is SSL and why does it matter?
SSL (the padlock icon in your browser) encrypts data between your site and your visitors. Without it, browsers show a “Not Secure” warning next to your URL. Google also penalizes non-SSL sites in search rankings. It's not optional anymore.
What does my monthly fee actually cover?
Everything except the domain itself. You'll own that (same reason you'd want the title to your own house). I'll walk you through buying it. The monthly fee covers everything else: premium hosting, SSL, security, professional design, content updates, maintenance, backups, and direct support. One flat rate.
Can't I just build it myself on Squarespace or Wix?
You can, but you're paying for the platform, the domain, the hosting, the SSL, and spending your own time learning a tool that isn't your business. Most DIY sites look DIY. You're hiring me so yours doesn't, and so you never have to think about any of this.
What happens if something breaks?
With a DIY setup, you figure it out. You Google error messages, sit on hold with your hosting provider, or pay a freelancer emergency rates. With me, you send one text or email and I handle it. That's the whole point.
Do I own my website?
Yes. Your domain, your content, your brand. If you ever leave, everything goes with you. No hostage situations.
What if I already have a domain or hosting?
No problem. I'll transfer everything over and get it consolidated under your plan. You won't need to log into five different accounts anymore.
Do you offer anything besides websites?
Yes: newsletter management, printed materials (design only, printing billed at cost), consulting when you want a second opinion instead of a whole project. My expertise ranges the full spectrum of marketing.

for busy shops & active sites
I pay agency rates on hosting and infrastructure, so you never pay retail. No contracts, no setup fees. If you ever want to leave, the site transfers to you and we part on good terms.
